Action.vn – There are several activities of “the world’s biggest social network” in Vietnam that you may not know!
Using Facebook Places freely
There will be no more detours to check-in Facebook Places like when it was first launched in U.S. Now, users in Vietnam can check-in freely, tag their friends in handouts, meetings, or workplaces. However, this function’s list of locations in Vietnam is not as abundant as Foursquare, which is favored and used frequently by many people as a habit when they go eating, hanging out or, shopping (though it is for nothing at all :P)
Facebook Vietnam’s official fan page
Officially launched on October 23, 2011, now this fan page has more than 15,000 fans. This is an important information bridge between users and Facebook. In an interview with Action.vn, Mr. Huynh Kim Tuoc, Facebook’s representative in Vietnam, said: “There are so many rumors like Facebook shutting down, competitions winning Facebook’s T-shirts, etc. cause a great disturbance of authenticity throughout the user community. From now on, this fan page is the only channel providing users with official information from Facebook”
Users now will be less puzzled by false rumors about Facebook.
Besides gathering multi-way flows of information for one and only source, fan page Facebook Vietnam also continuously updates news, gives instructions on new functions, and listens to users’ feedbacks to upgrade its products. Have you “like” Facebook Vietnam?
A companion of Vietnamese students
Being pretty quietly in this section, Facebook is always a companion of Vietnamese university students, especially focusing on students’ activities in ICT section. If you notice the fan page’s photos, you will easily spot Mr. Huynh Kim Tuoc along with other students at the “Anniversary: 20 years of Olympic & Awards”, with Facebook logo in the Silver sponsor’s section.

OLP ’11 and ACM/ICPC were held in Can Tho University in last October. Here is the program’s information:

From 2006, after years of experimenting the standard of international programming competition ACM / ICPC for participants and online group competition process, Vietnam is formally approved to hold ACM international Collegiate programming Contest for international students in Asia Region.
Since 2007, Student IT Olympiad in Vietnam was connected with the ACM / ICPC contest into an IT contest for students in Vietnam and Asia.
